Kenya Prison Recruits Prepare for 46th Pass-Out Parade on Saturday, 28th February 2026

Kenya Prison recruits at the Prisons Staff Training College in Ruiru have successfully concluded their final rehearsal ahead of the 46th recruit pass-out parade scheduled for Saturday, 28th February 2026.

With precision drills, oath-taking practice and strict discipline on display, the graduating cohort showcased readiness to transition into active service as correctional officers. Commissioner General Patrick Arandu attended the rehearsal and commended the recruits for their commitment throughout the rigorous training programme.

The recruits, who enrolled at the college in May 2025 as part of the 2025–2026 intake, underwent months of intensive preparation designed to equip them for the complex and evolving realities of modern correctional work. Arandu highlighted the high standards of conduct and professionalism maintained by the cohort, noting that the training extends beyond physical drills to include legal and ethical responsibilities.

The comprehensive training programme blended classroom instruction with practical field experience. The recruits studied a wide range of subjects, including legal and security procedures, conflict resolution, prisoner rehabilitation and financial literacy. Instructors emphasised that this mix of theoretical knowledge and hands-on exposure ensures new officers are well prepared to handle real-life scenarios in correctional facilities across the country.

Officials also underscored the evolving focus of the Kenya Prisons Service, noting modern correctional work increasingly emphasises rehabilitation and reintegration. As a result, recruits were trained in communication skills, sound judgement and human rights standards.

The upcoming pass-out parade will officially mark the recruits’ transition into active duty within the Kenya Prisons Service. They are expected to support ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism, enhancing service delivery and improving efficiency across the correctional system.
