KUCCPS Opens Portal for 2026 University Placement, Sets Application Deadline

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially opened its online portal for the 2026 university and college placement cycle, giving thousands of students an opportunity to apply for their preferred courses and institutions.

The application window, which targets candidates who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination as well as previous Form Four leavers, marks a crucial step in the transition to higher education. Students are required to submit their applications through the KUCCPS student portal, where all available programmes, institutions, and requirements have been published.

Application Process and Eligibility

KUCCPS has emphasized that the entire application process is conducted online, with applicants expected to log in using their KCSE details and select courses based on their qualifications and career interests.

Candidates who attained a mean grade of C+ and above qualify for direct university admission, while those with lower grades can apply for diploma, certificate, and artisan programmes in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

The placement body has also ensured that the system accommodates all learners, allowing them to explore a wide range of academic and technical pathways depending on their performance.

Deadline and Urgency

KUCCPS has set a strict deadline for the application exercise, urging students to complete their submissions before the portal closes. While exact timelines may vary slightly, the application period typically runs for a limited window within April, with closure expected towards the end of the month or early May.

Students have been advised not to wait until the last minute, as late applications will not be accepted once the system is closed.

Updated Courses and Cut-Off Points

Ahead of the opening, KUCCPS updated its portal with new degree cut-off points, programme codes, and institutional requirements to guide applicants in making informed choices.

Courses are grouped into clusters based on competitiveness and demand, with fields such as engineering, business, and social sciences offering a wide variety of options across different universities.

Support for Applicants

To assist candidates, KUCCPS has deployed support teams and continues to offer career guidance through its platforms and partner institutions. Students are encouraged to carefully review programme requirements and seek guidance where necessary to improve their chances of securing placement.

A Critical Step for Students

The opening of the KUCCPS portal is a significant milestone for KCSE candidates, as it determines their placement into universities, colleges, and training institutions across the country. With competition expected to be high, students are urged to make thoughtful course selections aligned with their strengths and career aspirations.

As the deadline approaches, timely application remains key to securing a spot in the 2026 intake.
